Today I meditated while riding my bike. It was actually quite refreshing, despite the summer heat. I don't drive due to a medical issue, and I needed to run to the grocery for some eggs. So I hopped on my bike and made my way to the store. We live in a relatively busy area, so I much prefer meandering through the neighborhoods than riding along the busy thoroughfare. When I turned into one neighborhood, I focused my thoughts and energy on pedaling. I took up a nice, methodical pace, and just entered "the zone." I was still aware of my surroundings, paying attention to traffic and what was around me, but I was very relaxed just focusing on even pedaling. No thoughts except for the action of pedaling. If I started thinking about how much I hate the heat or how my legs hurt, I'd quickly dismiss it and resume thinking of pushing my legs. I matched my breathing with the movement of my legs: exhale as I pushed with my right leg, inhale as I pushed with my left leg. The exercise was wonderful, the meditation helped clear my mind, and I definitely felt like I had more energy today.
